Do you want to improve your DIY skills or have you wanted to make a particular piece of furniture?  We offer both mid week and week end tuition.  Normally small groups or one to one, tuition can be catered to all levels.

Making sure its a memorable day. We offer short courses where you can make a small piece such as a box or bowl.  We can also help develop this to a bigger piece mixing further workshop time as a blend of tuition and bench hire.  As a student you can take part in design work shops in our office, spend time at the drawing boards, work on the large machines milling or develop skills with the best power tools on the market and of course practice hand skill development with our wide range of quality planes, chisels, gouges and the like.

We also teach young people in special workshops.  Its like doing the pottery projects in the high street except we offer experiences with wood in a safe tutor lead environment.  The bonus is they keep what they make!

From our workshop you can learn how to work with wood.  We have several pre planned courses on offer, from making bedside cabinets, chairs to larger items such as tables.  You can also bring along any other plan or project and we will build it out together.  On the internet there are many sites offering drawings for you to purchase for around £5.  We have a database of approximately 2000 plans to choose from! If there is a particular project you would like to try, let us know and we'll get the plans, order the materials and arrange the time in the workshop for you to come and work on the piece for as long as you would like our help.

The workshop is situated in Wargrave, its fully insulated and there is ample tea and coffee on tap.  We have many local restaurants, cafe's and pubs and we can also arrange for accommodation locally.

You can work on your project at all stages of construction from design, through the jointing stages to final gluing and finishing. You are welcome to leave your work until its finally finished.  Courses are priced at just £35 per hour plus materials for time spent at our workshop.  We have all the machine and hand tools you will ever need and safety is our utmost priority so you will not be at risk whilst working on your project.

Apprenticeship

We have experience running apprenticeships where we can develop people to the point where they can run carpentry projects on there own.  It is a time consuming process and through the learning experience it requires a lot of time from our craftsmen so the initial period is very costly to the business and so we typically only look to embark on apprenticeships in the spring when work levels tend to pick up.  At present we are not seeking to start a new scheme but by all means contact us for details and we will put your details on record should we look to start a employee at any point in the future.
